Using proprietary gene targeting methods, the creatures are rendered human-tolerant, while preserving overall aggression. They are being promoted by Tyran as the ultimate law enforcement tool. The 4th Sector currently is a proving ground for the Transgenic Humanoid Uniformed Guard (T.H.U.G.) program; crimes of violence and corporate dissent are being reduced with brutal efficiency. Tyran plans lucrative licensing and production agreements with several domestic and foreign municipalities, which are eager to deploy these forces as a countermeasure to growing urban terrorism. Although several powerful individuals and interest groups want the program halted, intervention by official means is no longer politically feasible. The aim of this directive is to disrupt and undermine confidence in the THUG project, with a minimum of collateral damge. An attempt to smuggle weapons through ground and airspace checkpoints by our advance team failed; you'll being going in light. 4th Sector THUGs are now on high alert. Be resourceful; cooperation from Blue Mona is possible. Drop time is 0100- proceed as indicated to Lanier Tower for further instructions. We've rented a condo there; access will be under your alias. Known Bugs : Ambient sound may appear to "break up" a little bit as you rotate in an area. Don't know why; any tips on this would be appreciated. Also, not a bug per se, but correct use of the elevator to the condo requires that you first be ID'd by standing on the Holoscan plate (the results are shown on the monitor) and then enter. ===================================================================== ===================================================================== *Important Information* INSTALLATION: Move any existing sound files to a subdirectory. (To be super safe, move any .CON and tiles014.ART files too) Unzip "sector4.zip" to your Duke3d directory, and run sector4.BAT by typing "sector4" at the prompt to install and launch. Existing tiles014.art and game & user .CON files will be backed up, but not existing sound files. System: This map was constructed on a P100/16Mb machine. Aside from slight pauses in newly entered areas, it should play well on an equivalent or better computer. Unfortunately, I have no idea how it plays on a slower machine, and I apologize to those who may encounter suboptimal performance. Permissions: The file set contained in sector4.zip may be freely distributed only in its entirety.
